The Credit Layer for x402

Trustless instant credit, at the protocol level

When agents hit a 402 Payment Required and don't have USDC, Credio pays on their behalf using Solana, and the debt auto-repays when funds return.

How x402 works

The x402 protocol enables pay-per-use API payments and micro-transactions below $0.01. A service responds with 402 Payment Required and payment details; the agent pays in USDC and retries. Frictionless, until the wallet is empty.

Credio's solution

Credio acts as a credit provider in the x402 ecosystem. When an agent can't pay from its wallet, Credio provides instant credit and pays the service in USDC. Debt is automatically repaid when funds arrive, with no human gatekeepers and no manual reviews.

Technical architecture

1

Agent encounters 402 Payment Required

A service needs e.g. $0.01 USDC, but the agent wallet is empty.

2

Agent requests credit from Credio

The agent tries its own wallet first, then uses Credio as a fallback.

3

Credio validates credit availability

Checks the agent is within its progressive tier and lifetime cap.

4

Credio pays the service in USDC

Sends USDC SPL tokens from the treasury to the service on Solana.

5

Service grants access to the agent

The agent receives the resource; Credio records the debt on-chain.

6

Agent repays when ready

The agent sends USDC back to the treasury and reports it for clearance.

USDC on Solana

Trustless Approval

Progressive Cap
